Physicians Laboratory Services
PLS provides reference laboratory testing and consultant pathology services to 19 rural and metropolitan hospitals in Nebraska and Iowa.  In addition to pathology consultation and reference laboratory testing, our pathologists serve as laboratory directors for some of these locations.

Our reference laboratory also provides testing for over 500 physician offices, numerous veterinarians, and industries in our service area.  We have a broad base of support from the local medical communities, and we are the oldest and largest independent laboratory in Nebraska.  Our volume of laboratory testing allows us to offer a wide range of procedures, and we perform over 99% of these tests in our own laboratory facilities.

Our professional staff is committed to providing the best quality testing services available.

In addition to our team of pathologists, our technical staff includes 1 PhD clinical chemist, over 90 medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians, 12 cytologists, and 4 histologists. These professionals have broad experience in their field and many have been associated with Physicians Laboratory for over 10 years. The IT department has experiences from 10 to 20 years. Our consulting technologists each have over 10 years experience. Our PhD chemist has served the Lincoln area as a Clinical Consultant for the past 18 years. He joined Physicians Laboratory staff in April 2004.

Our section supervisors average 20 years experience in their respective fields and bring a wealth of knowledge to our testing menu. PLS has approximately 150 employees in our Omaha facility and 50 employees in our Lincoln facility. Physicians Laboratory has been licensed as an independent laboratory under CLIA since that law was enacted. The law requires that independent laboratories employ only qualified technologists and technicians.
