|"In House" Billing
PLS has an "in house" billing department located in our laboratory in Omaha. The laboratory participates with over 150 insurance companies and payment plans. PLS is a preferred provider for most insurance plans that sell policies in the Midwest. We are an approved provider for Medicare, Nebraska Medicaid, and most HMO/PPO managed care plans in Nebraska and Iowa.
Client billing is an option with PLS.
Client statements are issued monthly and can be itemized by individual physicians at multi-practice clinics.
Monthly statements include:
- CPT code
- Patient name and chart number
- Lab accession number
- Date of service
- Tests itemized by ordering physician
- Total charges for each physician
||Direct Patient Testing and Billing
Some of our physicians request that we bill patients for tests that are are ordered by their doctor. Physicians Laboratory bills 3rd party insurers whenever we receive the information from their physician or from the patient. We accept assignment from most insurers and bill deductibles to the patient at their insurance's request. Physicians Laboratory accepts Visa and MasterCard payments.
Physicians Laboratory allows patients to pay for laboratory services at the time of collection in one of our laboratory facilities. These payments must be made by check, money order, or credit card. Nebraska is a “direct access” state, meaning patients are allowed to come to a laboratory and request testing and receive results for these tests. Physicians Laboratory will perform common laboratory procedures at the request of the patient and will release results if a HIPAA compliance form is signed at the laboratory. These “direct access” tests must be paid for at the time of service and results must be picked up in person at the laboratory.
